Deck saloon

A deck saloon sailboat (often called DS for short) is a type of sailboat designed with an elevated saloon, usually located at or slightly above the main deck.

Advantages :

• Comfortable living on board (light, space)
• Better insulation
• Ideal for long voyages or living aboard

Disadvantages :

• Higher profile, so slightly greater wind resistance
• Potentially higher center of gravity
• Aesthetics not to everyone's taste
