The Jeanneau Yachts 55 marks a real departure from Jeanneau’s philosophy: this is no longer just a high-performance, comfortable sailboat, but a design focused almost exclusively on life on board.

The idea of the “apartment boat” is not just a slogan. The interior layout prioritizes highly private owner’s cabins, with a layout designed to minimize forced interactions—a rather unique choice for a boat of this size. The result: more privacy, more comfort… but also a positioning clearly geared toward peaceful cruising rather than sporty sailing.

The deck, for its part, is probably the most distinctive feature:

  • at the front of the cockpit, a space dedicated to navigation with dual steering wheels, an outdoor chart table, a windshield, and a hardtop: protection and efficiency
  • at the rear, a completely separate area, designed as a lounge with large sun pads: a very “luxury yacht” atmosphere

This layout is bold: it greatly enhances comfort at anchor or at mooring, but may surprise purists accustomed to more traditional and versatile cockpits.

In terms of recognition, the model has racked up a string of awards, confirming that this design certainly doesn’t go unnoticed:

  • “Best Boats 2024” award from Sail Magazine
  • “Cruising Yacht of the Year” at the 2023 British Yachting Awards
  • “Boat of the Year 2024” by Cruising World Magazine

In short, the Jeanneau 55 is designed for a very specific profile:

someone who prioritizes comfort, privacy, and the onboard experience above all else.
