Aubin

Founded in 1926 by Baptiste Aubin, the shipyard initially set up on the banks of the Erdre River in Nantes. Specializing in the construction of classic wooden canoes, it stood out for the quality of its craftsmanship.

In 1962, under the management of Baptiste's sons, Paul and André Aubin, the yard moved to the banks of the Loire, to meet growing demand and diversify its production.

The Aubin shipyard is particularly renowned for its collaboration with naval architect Philippe Harlé, which led to the creation of several iconic yachts:

  • Muscadet (1963): an accessible, high-performance plywood sailboat with sharp chines, which democratized yachting in France.
  • Cognac and Armagnac: other flagship models designed by Harlé and built by the Aubin shipyard, appreciated for their robustness and simplicity.

Although the shipyard ceased operations in 1986, its legacy lives on.
