Ketch
A ketch sailboat can be a sailing monohull, a sailing catamaran or a sailing trimaran.
A ketch sailboat is equipped with two masts: the main mast, called the mainsail mast, is located forward of the second mast, called the mizzen mast.
The division of the sail area, compared with a sloop rig, allows greater flexibility of use. In fresh winds, the mainsail can be lowered, and the boat can be sailed with the mizzen and genoa, giving it good balance. On the other hand, the mizzen's performance with the mainsail is relatively average upwind.
Today, ketch rigs are mainly found on larger yachts. It is tending to disappear from production boats.
